New Moon and Solar eclipse February 15, 2018
It is eclipse season. This is one of two times a year when Sun’s orbit crosses the Moon’s orbit resulting in an eclipse of the Sun or the Moon. New Moons represent a time of new beginnings. A Solar eclipse represents a time of change. Change is probably never more true than when the eclipse is in Aquarius, the sign of quick change. The last eclipses of 2017 and first eclipses of 2018 have all been in the Leo-Aquarius polarity. This is said to be good news for those with their natal Sun sign in either sign.
This eclipse takes place and 4:05 pm EST and will only be seen in the southernmost parts of Earth. It begins in Antarctica and moves across the Atlantic toward the southern part of Southern South America. The second eclipse season for this year will begin July 13, 2018, with another solar eclipse and end on August 11 with the last solar eclipse. The last eclipse will be seen over the North Pole, Northern Asia parts of Eastern Asia, and Northern Europe.
Eclipses have historically meant bad news and instilled fear. Our ancestors thought the Sun or Moon was being eaten by a dragon, demon, or an angry god. Solar eclipses are particularly frightful because the sky grows dark, the temperature significantly drops, and the animals begin to act strangely. There is no other celestial event quite like it.
The New Moon of February 15, 2018, is in the sign of Aquarius and is joined by the Sun and Mercury. The placement of Mercury in Aquarius is quite significant. While he rules Gemini and Virgo, he is exalted in Aquarius. This means he as comfortable transiting this sign as his transiting ruling signs. This is good news!
As a result of this transit, all forms of communication can be trusted more than usual. This is a great time to make plans for the summer. I find I do best if making a list. My big problem is that I am so involved in what I am doing right now, that it is difficult to look ahead to the summer. Regardless, I do have some ideas around what I want to accomplish by the autumn.
The last eclipse on January 31, 2018, brought in a lot of energy. It has merged and shifted timelines and awakened many people that might not even be aware of this change. This has raised the vibration of Earth and all that lives on it. It also propels us forward as we move from one dimension to the next and grow our social conscience.
When considering what this might mean for the collective, we need to consider the characteristics of Aquarius. This is the sign of the inventor. It is independent, humanitarian, unconventional, rebellious, and detached. This sign rules weather, electricity, technology, the collective, intuition, astrology, logic, being authentic, and is multidimensional.
When taking all these things into consideration along with other influences like
Mercury’s conjunction with the Sun and Moon at the time of the eclipse, I am expecting the coming months to deal mostly with Earth changes and big weather events, as well as an increased resistance to the unethical. Perhaps this means the #metoo movement will continue to gain momentum o
There is another factor of interest on the 15th. Jupiter, the planet of growth and expansion will be in square aspect to the eclipse. This could be good energy for learning more about who you are and what you came here to do. You might get closer to answering the age-old question “What is the meaning of life”. Haven’t we all pondered that at some point?
You could notice an increase in intuitive insights. I am a strong believer in following them but like most of us, I don’t always do that and usually regret it when I don’t. I think we all would be wise to listen to our small voices in the coming months, if not the entire year and beyond. I feel this increase in intuition is one aspect of our lives that is changing permanently.
There are two other planets that will influence the eclipse energy. Venus and Mercury are both within orb and considered conjunct to the eclipse. Mercury deals with communications and local travel. Venus is about relationships. These conjunctions will assist us in finding progressive ways to communicate better with those close to us.
Lunar eclipse energy can last for weeks or months. Solar eclipse energy can be felt for months and up to a year. I expect this eclipse energy to last all year.
