Pollen cloud over Durham, NC April 2019
The pollen here has hit me in a big way this year. Last weekend was the worst for me. I had not been wearing a mask when going outside and by Sunday I was in a fog. I did write and planned to post but as I was finishing up I realized I had not written about last week at all. I decided since I was so stuffy, that I should stop writing and get some rest.
I am feeling much better today. Choosing to wear a mask whenever I went outside was probably a helpful and healthful plan. But, I missed telling you about the Full Moon being on the relationship axis of self (Aries) and relationships (Libra). The Full Moon was asking us to strike a balance between what we need for ourselves and the needs of a significant person or persons in our lives. This is teaching us to dance between independence and dependence, autonomy and companionability.
The Sun changed signs in the very early hours Saturday, April 19, 2019. We left behind the youthful exuberance and spontaneity of Aries and traded that in for the methodical energy of Taurus. This sign is at its best when resisting or defending something. Taurus is stubborn and will stand his ground in an argument. They like to be right but then don’t most of us? Even so, they usually aren’t pushy about their beliefs but they sure can be stubborn about them and stand their ground.
Just like the new seeds that are taking root in the ground in Spring, Taurus people are a determined lot. They are also good at starting new projects but not so good at completing them. The shadow side if Taurus is not only stubbornness, they can also be quite possessive also.
This week, the only remaining Aries energy is with Mercury and Venus which will be moving into Taurus May 6 and 15 respectively. Not only do we want to make a decision fast but we will also continue to mastermind new ideas.
Venus in Aries will continue with spontaneity and direct romantic interactions. Those with this aspect in their charts love the chase and the conquest. This energy is amplified and spreads to the rest of us to some degree during this transit. If things can stay fresh, any new relationships begin during this transit, could be long-lasting.
This week begins with the Sun conjunct Uranus on Monday. You have probably felt this energy for a few days now. This transit exudes fast change, independence, and forward thinking. This is a great time to show others exactly what makes you unique. Our interest in technology, metaphysical topics, and science are strong and we seek out new and creative ways to express ourselves.
This is a great time to make new friends, join a group or a club, even become a group leader. You can do this because people love you. Also, be aware that unexpected things can happen in any area of life and even be life-changing. It’s all good! I know it’s Earth Day, but tomorrow will be the day for tree hugging.
Tuesday the Sun semi-squares Neptune. Today will challenge our willpower. Staying focused could be difficult, especially for those with Neptune/Pisces prominent in their chart. The best use of this energy is in artistic and spiritual activities. If the weather is good where you are, get outside and commune with nature.
Venus will conjunct Chiron on Tuesday. This could give us an opportunity to heal our personal relationships and be more willing to allow commitment and intimacy into our lives. The ability to see fault in things will diminish while our ability to see human weaknesses and suffering will be stronger. Build trust and look the potential in others. Some feelings of insecurity could come to the surface but if we don’t resist we could see these things cleaned from our systems. This energy is all about healing in the area of love.
All week long, Pluto is stationary retrograde but the peak of this station is Wednesday. Pluto has been at 23° 9′ since Friday, April 19, 2019, and will remain at that degree until May 1st. Since Pluto moves so slow, he gives us a wonderful opportunity to see the slowdown, station, and retrograde action that planets go through. Mercury is so fast that the actual movement can be difficult to see and understand with him. Pluto gives us a far more elongated view and understanding.
Pluto’s transit is always profound.
Pluto’s transit is always profound and transformative. He asks us to release the old and welcome the news. He is the planet of change, of death and rebirth.
Change is always difficult for humans because we want to be in control. The problem comes when we attempt to control, we often get little more than a lack of control and power struggles inside and out.
Pluto stationing retrograde is asking us to take one last look at the area of our chart he is transiting. This is the area, the house and any aspecting planets where you probably need to let go of your old ways and allow for change to take place. This is ultimately for the good of your evolution and will help you unfold to discover your soul’s purpose for this life.
Saturday, Mars will aspect two of our outer planets. The first is a semi-square with Uranus. This is sure to cause some restlessness over the weekend. Try not to act on impulse. Uranus loves being unpredictable and this can occasionally be problematic. Changes in our schedules or some sort of life consideration might cause us to re-think our plans and goals.
The next aspect for Mars is a square with Neptune. I would not be surprised if most of you find it difficult to stay focused. Our ability to organize could suffer too. Ideas seem to come from the most unusual places, and while intuition may seem strong it might not be as accurate as we think it is. Not a good time to start much of anything new.
That about covers this week in astrology. I hope you have enjoyed this Easter holiday doing whatever it is you choose to do. For me this weekend is no different than another. I rest up from the week, write, cook food for the coming week and do household chores. I really enjoy whatever else I might do like visit friends or a visit to the Farmer’s Market.
Regardless of how you spend this weekend, I hope you will remember to be kind to those you meet this week. Differences only exist in our experiences. We are all the same otherwise and have the needs and wants. Smile and say hello. You will feel good too.
