Hello beautiful friends! Today is the feast day of Mary Magdalene. More on that later.
Summer is going fast and today, Sunday, July 22, 2018, the Sun changes signs and moves into the fun-loving sign of Leo. The energy of this sign focuses on children, play, relaxation, rest, leadership skills, taking center stage and being in the spotlight, and taking risks. This sign is also the polar opposite to Aquarius.
Sunday is loaded with aspects and one of special note is Venus sextile (60 degrees away from) Jupiter. Jupiter, often called the Great Benefic, loves to make things bigger and give us more of whatever is available, good bad or indifferent. In this case, a sextile is a positive and co-operative aspect so it will be possible for us to have some extra luck and abundance in our money, relationships, and creativity.
Venus is currently transiting Virgo and this will increase our desire and need to pay close attention to details. Look for ways to serve our partners and others we have close relationships with. You might find creative ways to serves or donate financially to some good cause.
Yesterday the Sun moved to oppose Mars. This opposition will peak about the 27th but remain within the orb of influence through the remainder of July. This energy is both competitive and passionate. We might need to find a way to blow off some steam or get an attitude adjustment from time to time over the next couple of weeks.
The Sun squaring Uranus is another aspect of note. It began on the 20th and will remain with us through the end of the month. This aspect brings uncertainty with it. It will be important for us to be as open-minded and flexible as possible. Otherwise, some might feel uneasy or anxious. This might not be a good time to experiment. This is an aspect that is prone to direction changes and accidents.
Change can come as something environmental or as a technical malfunction of some sort. Some of us could experience another’s expression of anger or frustration. I am sure we all can relate to this when we think about the computer crashing or the TV not working. If you find yourself suddenly experiencing an uncommon outburst of anger or frustration, then we probably have Uranus square the Sun to thank for it.
Uranus is also in square aspect to Mars and has been within about 3 degrees of exact since early May. This aspect is with a long time thanks to Mars going retrograde on June 27, 2018. However, the last three weeks of June this was not as strong as it is now because there two planets were 7-8 degrees apart. The closer any two planets get to an exact aspect degree, the stronger the influence.
When Uranus is one of those planets, we are practically guaranteed to have chaos of some sort. Add Mars to it and you might have a lot of hot air. This aspect can also add to the Sun/Mars opposition when it comes to being accident prone. New ventures of any sort could be short-lived. There are better times to buy houses, get married, and start a new business for sure! Apply this to what is being played out on the world stage and you might understand what is going on a bit better.
This square’s energy is quite complicated because Uranus is still in the early degrees of a sign and mode change. Mars too has changed signs and modes. Modes refer to whether a sign is cardinal, fixed or mutable. Now, with outgoing any deeper and losing some of you or myself, I will stop but share this link in case you would like to go deeper.
Probably this biggest aspect this week comes Thursday with the Full Moon, called the Buck Moon. And as I said two weeks ago, we are in eclipse season. Thursday we will have the second of three eclipses for the summer, a Lunar eclipse.
This will be the longest total Lunar eclipse or this century. It will last one hour and 43 minutes. The entire path will take almost 4 hours. Eclipses are always powerful but this one in particular is made even more so, not only because of the long duration but because the nodes of the Moon are within one degree of both luminaries. I feel like we are on the cusp of some really powerful changes. Many of which we might not like and some we will.
Any speculation about this eclipse and the close proximity of the nodes can get really deep, (as if we have not touched on some deep stuff already). Combine all these things with the energy of the solstice, the added energy of the nodes and the Feast of Mary Magdalene, all sandwiched in between Summer Solstice and Lions Gate. . . makes my head spin. This is one of those times I read about many years ago but didn’t understand. I am not saying that I do now either. But, I do understand that this is a pivotal time in our history.
I had never heard of the Feast of Mary Magdalene until the last couple of years. Perhaps I would have, had I grown up Catholic or was a religious historian. I have always been drawn to Mary Magdalene but never knew much about her. I did and do hold a belief that she was more important to history than the majority know. In my view, the fact that I am seeing more about her in recent years speaks directly to a shift in consciousness and is directly related to the evolution and transformation of our species.
We are evolving into a more loving and nurturing human. Hard to see right now, I know. Sometimes everything seems so bleak and impossible. The planets are assisting us in huge ways right now. And regardless of how much we understand about it all or understand astrology is irrelevant. This shift is going to happen no matter what. Like the Sun rising and setting, we have no control over it. But we can observe the planets and the stars and learn as much as we can, and do our best to navigate through tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year.
I hope I have not gotten too far off track this week. It is just that I see changes coming when I look at the charts or do research for this blog. So much so that this week I feel a bit overwhelmed by it all. Two weeks ago we had a huge aspect week. We do again this week.
One of the bright spots is a trine between Neptune and Jupiter. This will open up or creativity and bring many of us some joy as we learn new ways to take care of ourselves.
Another bright spot is a trine between Uranus and the Moon conjunct Saturn. This combo will help stabilize some of the emotions, chaos, and changes both individually and in the collective.
A trine between Venus and Pluto will help us examine our relationships, finances and our perspective of beauty.
That is all for this week. Please remember to be kind and smile. I am constantly amazed at how many people I pass each week that either never look up from their phone as I pass and won’t acknowledge that there is someone in their presence. I am in no way suggesting that we start a conversation with everyone we pass but at least say give a smile and a nod if you can’t muster the word hello.
Have a great week folks! Hope to see you here again next week for post-eclipse thoughts and info.
