This past week, here in the heart of North Carolina, it finally felt like Spring. People were out in their yards and visiting neighbors. Yesterday, a few houses down the street from me there were some people singing with a karaoke machine entertaining the neighborhood. My yard was mowed for the first time this year, allergy season is in full swing, and Mercury is direct again.
Don’t let Mercury’s change in direction catch you unaware. The fiery planet will not be out of the storm or moving back at full speed until the end of this week, on April 6th. It is still advised for this week to use caution in all things Mercurial.
The week ahead looks to me to be rather calm overall. But as soon as I say that I get the image of that coming back to bite me in the rear. So, let’s just say that there aren’t a lot of heavy aspects this week, at least in general. As always, your natal chart is the best predictor of how the energy might affect you.
Mercury will conjunct Neptune on Tuesday this week. This could bring a bit of fog and confusion to our week but by the beginning of next week he will aspect Saturn and that will create stability.
When the Sun enters Aries, it marks the beginning of the astrological New Year. We are now two weeks into the new year and this week brings us a Mars sign change today, March 31, 2019, and a New Moon on Friday.
The Mars sign change is a welcome change. While he was transiting Taurus, he was not a happy camper. He will like Gemini much better and will also be more flexible and far less stubborn. Most of us could notice increased diversity in our day to day thoughts and actions. But we can also expect to be less focused and more distracted. I have personally been feeling distracted and unable to focus for a few weeks so I am not sure what to expect during this transit which lasts until May 15, 2019.
Wednesday Mars will be in a minor sextile aspect to Chiron. This will pick up where last weeks meeting of the Sun and Chiron. Anytime a planet is in aspect with Chiron it can be uncomfortable for many of us. The good news is that this energy is helping us clear out old stories and heal old wounds.
Venus is still in Pisces and casting a bright light on romance, or at least the desire for romance and a soulmate connection. We tend to be more aware of those that need a helping hand or leg-up. Idealizing others is also part of this energy. Don’t let this become something it is not. Pisces, ruled by Neptune is full of illusion. This can mean illusion in friendships, love, and money when Venus is transiting.
Venus will be drawing closer to a conjunction with Neptune this week. The perfection of this conjunction, however, won’t take place until next week. I would suggest that we all use caution with our spending. I know many people, my self included, who are easily swayed to impulse buying. I am very aware of this and have actually made great progress in the management of my finances. It is only with continuing to keep a close eye on things that I will totally succeed so I remain vigilant.
The next big deal this week is the New Moon in Aries at 4:51 am on Friday, April 5, 2019. New Moons are the beginning of the Moon cycle. This is a good time to plant seeds. I am talking about literal seeds as well as new thoughts and projects. The past two weeks have not been good for much other than weeding and preparing the soil for our gardens or preparing to launch that new project. Now that Mercury is direct and the New Moon is nearly here, we will be able to launch the things we have been holding back.
A couple of years ago, I decided I was spending way more than I was getting out of my garden. I smoothed out the soil and sewed grass in that area. Woodchucks moved in under my shed and were eating most of what was growing. They enjoyed my comfrey plant so much that it no longer lives.
Even though I no longer have a garden spot, I grow a few things in pots and have one small raised bed that I plan to make even higher and deeper this year. I really want to grow a few things in the house under my ultra-violet light. If you are new to gardening or not sure when to plant your seeds or plants, I suggest you go to the Old Farmers Almanac site and look for the gardening section. There will you will find a list of what action is best for what days according to the Moon.
Overall spend some time this New Moon considering your personal goals and what you want to commit to. This is a great time to try something, anything new. Our confidence is up and we are ready to own our courage, take charge of our life, and get those new projects going.
There is one caveat to the positive New Moon energy however when the Moon forms a square to Saturn. This is could create some roadblocks to our new start and cause delays in getting things going. The good news is that no planets are retrograde so any blocks created by Saturn won’t be a difficult as they could be.
I prefer to look right past this Saturn square Moon and focus on all that is positive. It’s SPRINGTIME! Get moving!
As always, as you go about your week, don’t forget to be kind. Smile and acknowledge those you pass by or come in contact with. I am always amazed at how many people walk around focused on little more than their phone. I am grateful for all the connectivity but I really want to be more present in the world around me.
So leave the phone on your desk or in your bag. Look into the faces of those you pass by and remember they are human and no matter what the look like or how you perceive them from your own visual perspective, underneath it all that might be ugly or questionable, when you get down to bones, they are no different than you or I. At the very least, everyone deserves our kindness. We don’t have to be friends and we don’t have to even like them but we do need to be kind to all we meet.
Have a great week friends! I’d love to hear about your new projects for Spring and beyond.
