The storm that passed through the Southeast Thursday and Friday cleared out just in time for us to see the beautiful Full Moon Friday night just after the Winter Solstice. It signaled the end of an emotional week for many people. For others, it brought a burst of energy, evolution, and transformation. This energy was clearly expressed in the collective too. My inbox was full of news stories about a change of one sort or another.
Friday, December 21, also marked the Winter Solstice. Astrologers often do a chart at the solstices and equinoxes to get a feel for what the next three-month cycle will be like. This time there was a 9-degree conjunction between Mercury and Jupiter. If you’ve been holding back from speaking your mind about something, the next three-month period might be a good time to beam your message out to the world.
If you have something to say that is in service to the collective or are congruent to your soul’s purpose, this might be a really powerful time to speak out. The Nodes of fate are now direct and in a hard aspect to the Mercury Jupiter conjunction. This seemingly difficult energy is actually moving us forward. Use it for good.
Now we are just two days from Christmas. I am putting everything outside of my own little space in the world on hold and concentrating on me and how I am going to move into the next year. I have a feeling it will be one of the most transformative of my life. It is sure to interesting and there is no telling where it will take me.
I am concerned about my mother who turned 89 last Thursday. She is sounding weaker and weaker every time I speak to her on the phone. She might not be physically with us next year. I hope I am wrong. I have friends who are in a similar place in their lives. We all expect our parents to leave us when they get older but when it is your husband who isn’t that old or a younger brother, it is a real surprise. And it hurts.
Just after Solstice on Friday, the Sun moved into Capricorn and created a new 30-day cycle of responsibility, respect for the rule of law and order, ambition, and the gratification we get from a task well done. The Sun in Capricorn likes real results and feels best when following the rules and regulations. This is Saturn’s influence at its best and as you probably know, Saturn is transiting Capricorn where he is extra happy and strong.
Mercury is nearing the end of his tour of Sagittarius. During this transit we have enjoyed learning about a variety of things, optimism has increased, and we have been concerned with what is fair or unfair. The shadow side is a lack of precision. Mercury will move into Capricorn on January 5th.
Venus is also about to end her transit through Scorpio where she has been passionate in her relationships. She has been more interested in deep contact with another than with superficial flirtations. If you have noticed yourself being more emotional lately as I know I have, this transit could the influence. Scorpio energy is all or nothing, and passionate in its own right. In order to feel vital and alive, we tend to create dramatic ups and downs during this transit.
Mars is also near the end of a transit. He’s been in Pisces since November 15, 2018. The usually aggressive planet has been far less aggressive and more interested in spiritual matters. Mars is usually a mover and a shaker but in Pisces, he is more interested in others and what they might need.
Monday Mercury squares Neptune. Don’t be surprised it you find yourself more unfocused than usual. In order to use this energy to its fullest, resist that 2nd eggnog. Your intuition could be quite high today.
Amazingly, there are no major aspects for Christmas through the 27th. It is as if all the planets are taking a Christmas break too.
Friday Venus is in sextile aspect to Pluto, the ruler of the underworld and psychology. This is a going affect our finances and material possessions hopefully in a positive way. This is also a good time for relationships. Confidence is high and we are feeling an authenticity in our relationships. Remember that relationships include all people that you come in contact with.
Saturday, Mars will conjunct Chiron. This will give us the chance to take action in areas of teaching, mentoring, and healing. There might even be feelings of self-confidence, even fearlessness. This conjunction is all about positive action used to help others. Tis the season is it not?
With so much going on in our country (or not going on) I feel like the planets taking a break is telling us to just enjoy the holiday and focus inward rather than outward. If we can do that, then hopefully we will come up with some good ways to deal with the next 30, three months, and year-long cycles.
I want to thanks each one of you who read this blog each week for your support. Comments, new followers, and FaceBook “likes” mean more than you know. I am looking forward to another year with you, sharing and learning new things.
If you are traveling, please be safe. Take your time and give the other guy a break. Remember we are all doing the best we can and we don’t know why the other person is not performing the way we think they should. Until you put yourself in their shoes, don’t judge or blow a fuse. Sometimes we think things are obvious but they really aren’t.
Remember to be kind! Be understanding! Be love!
