What a week! Let’s welcome in the sign of Leo!
I had for a long time felt this past week would be filled with upset and uneasiness. There was in fact so much going on, it has been hard to keep up with it all.
This is an astrology blog and not a platform for my opinion. I do my best to stay away from the fear mongering, hate and other topics that lead to negative feelings and strong opinions. These days, however, this is a near impossibility for most of us. So much happened this week that I feel compelled to bring up a list of some of this week’s events but I won’t until the end of this post. Feel free to skip that part if you choose to.
While tensions and emotions were high last week, here in the US, the weather was hot, hot, hot.

The heat continues this week across much of the country and we are not alone. Parts of the middle east hovered just below 130 degrees. The hottest ever reported in the Eastern Hemisphere.
One of the coolest places to be in the US was Colorado. Several friends were visiting different parts of that state last week. A lady I have known most of my life, Laura Bruton and her husband Don Little, were vacationing in Breckenridge, CO. for a couple of weeks. Wednesday they who woke up to cool 47 degrees and snow on the ground. Here are a few photos Laura took to cool us down.
Besides the heatwave across the country, this week begins with a Grand Trine formed by the Sun, Uranus, and the Moon. This will be a week filled with trines and that is a good thing. Trines bring more positive energy.
A Sun/Uranus trine is positive and progressive. What’s not to like about that? Some of the traits of this aspect are good leaderships skills, ability to see the larger picture, caring for others, understanding, lower ego, open-minded, easy going, inventive, strong intuitive insights, and you could feel quite connected to the universal mind.
The Mars/Uranus side of this trine has a zeal for life and is very original. Uranus us my ruling planet and my natal Mars is trine Uranus in Cancer rather than his current transit of Aries. This is a triggering some things in me for sure. Lots of them have to do with personal freedom. Are you feeling this today too?
The Moon adds as emotional and female energy to the Grand trine. It brings balance to the Grand Trine as a whole.
Monday there are no less than eight trines. We’ve already covered a few of them. Today. the Grand Trine shifts and Saturn moves into take Mar’s place in this formation. Saturn in structure, authority, institutions, governments, the status quo. Saturn will also trine Mercury today. Expect deliberate, serious communications. This is not an aspect of fun and games.
The Moon trines both Mercury and Venus on Monday. Emotional communications and emotions around our social, creative, and financial aspects of life.
Uranus will also trine these two planets. Expect the unexpected when it come to how and what we communicate. There are sure to be surprised in all areas ruled by Venus. Trine energy is much more gentle than square energy so any surprises will probably be good ones or at least ones we can deal with pretty well. Another factor that eases this energy is the fact the Uranus is moving slow right now as he prepares to station to turn retrograde on Friday.
Wednesday, Mercury perfects his trine with Uranus. This is a fun aspect because it favors thinking outside the box. This aspect is ambrosia for those that enjoy the question more than the answer. This is a good day for meetings, cyber communications or almost anything involving computers, science, technology or philosophy. If you have a sudden light bulb moment of intuition or a creative idea seems to come from nowhere, thank this aspect.
The biggest kink to Wednesday will be Mercury’s inconjunct to Chiron at 3 degrees Aquarius. Making decisions might be difficult especially for those that have Chiron at about three degrees anywhere in their chart. You might notice that reading the intentions of another’s words causes you to misunderstand what is being said. Chill out and don’t take things personally. Remember that what you write or say can just as easily be misunderstood too.
Friday Uranus turns backwards for a long five months. He will turn direct again on December 29, 2016. Given our current high energy state and political climate of the world, this might be a blessing in disguise. We will see.
Friday the Sun is semi-square Jupiter. This can cause some impatience. We tend to exaggerate and overestimate. Both of these things can lead to waste; waste of anything from material goods to money or time. Emotions and moods will most likely be high yet a bit uneasy or even volatile. Being grounded in reality might not be are easy to reach for some as it will be for others. I feel like this could be a difficult day for my bi-polar friends but I sure hope not.
Friday is indeed an interesting day. Mercury squares Mars on Friday. This aspect can add more uneasy energy for some. We’ve had a couple of good opportunities for successful meetings this week but today is not one of them. In fact, today might be a good day to stay in bed.
You will be wise not to begin anything new. Sounds like Mercury retrograde, doesn’t it? It will be a good idea to think before you speak, not that that is not always a good idea but in this day, verbal competition is strong. This will make it difficult to express ourselves because what we say or how we say it can cause friction.
I hope all this helps you navigate your week better. Try not to spend too much time on the things that don’t make you happy. Instead, look for the happy things and think positive thoughts. As promised, below is a partial list of events from last week.
