Last September I wrote about the Pluto Uranus Square. You can find that in the archives @ http://wp.me/pZHdf-1w

The Pluto and Uranus don’t square off all that often. It does see to come in lumps  however. The last time was between 1930 and 1935. Pluto and Uranus were in exact square five times and doing what I call a “square dance” the rest of the time. That was the period of the Great Depression, a rise in Fascism that embraced a nationalism, chauvinism, and militarism among other things that eventually lead to WWII. This era certainly lots of extremes, upheaval and change.

The weather was also rather extreme in the 1930’s. Drought, tornadoes, blizzards and floods were beyond normal. Weather in the state of Nebraska set records that still hold today. Mother Nature’s harshness and devastation was not soon forgotten by those that lived it.

The mid 1960’s saw Pluto and Uranus conjunct in Virgo. This historic time is one worldremembered for its counter culture generation wild and crazy youth who rallied and demonstrated to end war, demanded social and economic, and freedom of creative expression. No more business as usual! There was the March on Washington, riots in cities large and small, sit-ins, love-ins and Woodstock.

By the early 1970’s Pluto and Uranus were moving away from each other. The volatility and craziness of the 60’s subsided. The people could see change. The fire of the 60’s never completely went cold however. That angst toward the status quo has been smoldering and simmering for the past five decades waiting for the next Pluto Uranus square to add some fuel to the fires of change once more. In 2011 these two planets moved closer and will dance together for nearly the next six years.

To fully understand this we need to take a look at the generations that played the biggest roles in the 60’s. These were people were born between 1937 and 1958 and have Pluto in Leo in their natal or birth charts. This group was destined to butt heads with their parent’s generation who were born between 1912 and 1939 that have Pluto in Cancer in their natal charts. “But wait!” I can hear you asking: “Why do the dates over lap”? This is because Pluto goes retrograde and goes back and forth between Cancer and Leo at least twice between 1937 and 1939.

Pluto is a slow moving planet and stays in each sign for many years. The characteristics of this sign become the reflection of the deepest desires of the generation born under it. This sets the theme for that generation.

So what exactly does it mean when I say these two generations are destined to butt heads? First let’s review the characteristics of Pluto and Uranus.

Pluto cleans up our messes. He throws out all the food that is past date or has spoiled and grown fur. He forces us to let go of what we no longer need both inside and outside. Pluto is in charge of death and destruction; a necessary evil in order for him to rebuild, recycle, renew, restore and revitalize. What a power house Pluto is!
Uranus is oh so independent. He breaks rules, loves freedom and doesn’t much care how he makes this happen. Uranus likes quick changes, reversals, surprises and shocks. He wants us come out of our shells, break the chains that bind and put some excitement into our otherwise hum drum lives.

Now let’s get back to the butting of the heads.

The generation (1912-1939) with Pluto in Cancer is the nurturing mother, protective and deprived. How depression typical is that? This generation is family oriented, loves privacy, and is protective of its wealth and security. A quick look back in history one can see how and why this generation grew the military industrial complex. And through its many wonderful medical discoveries it has protected us even unto death with.

The Pluto in Leo generation (1937-1958) by contrast, is generous, dramatic and has a knack for getting attention even when they aren’t really looking for it. They like to be the center of attention, crave power, fun and are very honest. They have a passionate flare for creative events and entertaining. As a collective they find the various forms of protection offered by their parent’s generation limiting and disconcerting. The Pluto in Leo generation seems more interested in the quality of life than the quantity and has a strong desire to create rather than destroy. Right away you can see a conflict between the Pluto Cancer’s need for privacy and protection, and Pluto Leo’s need to freely and creatively express itself.

one world

Today we are being forced to deal with the issues that the 60’s brought up and complete them. Social justice issues have come to the forefront once more. The list is long and somewhat overwhelming when I think about it. We all have seen these issues played out in the banks, foreign countries, governments all over the world in recent years and it’s not over yet.

The 3rd and most recent Pluto Uranus square has brought quite a few intense weather events. The May 20th tornado in Oklahoma and the fireballs in the sky are perfect examples of the power of these two planets in square aspect to each other. Thursday the 23rd saw wind gusts up to 100 mph in some parts of Texas. The annual hurricane predictions expect 20 or more tropical storms with season with as many as 11 reaching hurricane status.

Not only are the physical world and the weather affected by all this energy. Our Emotional world is also affected. After all, how can we change the world if we don’t change the way we think or were taught to to think? For me this is the most exciting part. The universe is actually pushing us to collectively change the way we view our lives and our world. The inner storms are also being activated by the Pluto Uranus square. Our own personal tornadoes and hurricanes.

I’ve talked to many people lately that feel stuck, are not sleeping, confused, and uncertain about their life purpose. They are seeking and not finding. This is a throwback to the 1960’s when we first realized there was a whole different world waiting for us to claim and create it. This is an incomplete project of sorts and the Pluto Uranus square is begging us to complete it.

We are awakening. The roots of the greater truth are growing stronger and deeper. What we once was just a really cool idea seems to suddenly make more sense and wants to just bust wide open in us. Pluto wants us to clean up our personal, inner mess too. If you have been feeling like purging your belongings this is part of it. These new truths and ideas are not easy to get used to. We all know how hard it is to change. We rock and reel in the stormy seas that are our lives. The universe is kind however. Whenever it asks us to such make big changes, it gives us a long period of time to make them. This is the time and to get really busy!

May-2013-Eclipse-300x200May 25th, 2013, we have the third of three eclipses this spring. A lunar eclipse really amps up the Full Moon energy. The moon will be in Sagittarius and square Neptune in Pisces. Check your goals toward higher education particularly in spiritual and philosophical areas. You might notice a pull toward some sort of emotional escaping as we deal with the inner conflicts brought on by the cosmos. This is a tricky time for those among us with addictive personalities so be aware. Focus on more healthy means of escaping like doing something creative or taking a long walk or hike. Just get out of your head. If you find you still need help, grab a notebook and write whatever is in your head. It does not have to make sense or be shared. This exercise really helps you get the clutter out of your head.

The physical world around us is sure to continue to real from all the energy the eclipses and squared planets have to offer. Their effects and affects are felt for days, weeks and months before and after. The Pluto and Uranus are with for a while yet. Your life choice is yours of course. The Sagittarius eclipse comes just after midnight at a degree that spotlights the huge struggle between YES and NO! I realize what I am going to say is easier said than done. But say YES! Surrender! Release! Let GO! And as Oprah says “Live your best life!”
