snow Last week sure ended with a bang! The Northeast has been hit by the 5th worst blizzard on record. I am pretty sure some of my readers have family in or near the area and a few might actually live in that area. I sincerely hope each and every one is safe and warm. Mars is just not happy in watery Pisces and Things like this storm can be the result it this. The down side of this is that we have a few more weeks of this to go yet.

I k now every day is a good day to celebrate and this week is full of celebrations. More bangs are in store this week as fireworks blast of Chinese New Year and the New Moon today (Sunday, February 10, 2013. Mardi Gras is Tuesday, Lent begins on Wednesday and Valentine’s day is Thursday. If this week doesn’t have something for you to hitch your wagon to and celebrate then you are missing a good chance to kick your heels up. HappyChineseNewYear

So let’s start the week off with Chinese New Year, the new Moon and the beginning of spring in lunar terms. The astrology signs are different in Chinese astrology. There are 12 animals instead of 12 planets and each one covers one year. If you don’t know what your Chinese astrology sign is you can find it here: http://www.travelchinaguide.com/intro/social_customs/zodiac/

Each of the Chinese astrology sign also has an element aspect to them. The elements are metal, water, wood and fire. Once you know you Chinese sign check this web page for more info and to learn about your particular element. http://www.usbridalguide.com/special/chinesehoroscopes/Rabbit.htm This year is the year of the water snake and happens to be my sign and element as well. The water snake is thought to put out the fire of the masculine fire snake and this year should see a rise the feminine yin energy. Chinese-New-Year-2013-Pictures

Another thing I should mention today is that all the planets with the exception of Jupiter and Uranus have gathered together in the last quarter or quadrant of the chart. This relates to all of us in society and how we participate and express in the collective or the world. Each quadrant has a different energy to it. The first quadrant of the chart is about the individual. It stands alone and acts from singular identity. The second quadrant is about being productive, creative and manifesting. The third quadrant is where we work and express with others through our day to day relationships. It involved teaching, working, and intimacy also.

Now, on to this week’s astrology!    06_rex

The new Moon is conjunct the Sun in Aquarius with Venus close by. The new Moon always signifies the beginning of a new cycle. This is the Aquarius cycle. Yeah, I know it’s strange that the Moon is so far behind the sun. The Aquarian New Moon is humanitarian, altruistic, and social. You may find new friends or a group to join under this Moon. It’s all about new beginnings after all.

Neptune has just entered Pisces where it joins Mercury and Mars. Mars will be in Pisces until March 12th and Mercury is soon to turn retrograde giving us over 2 full months of Mercury in Pisces. During this period our thoughts seem to come from our subconscious. We tend to talk about our sensitivity; perceptions, creativity and intuition, and we want to share this with the world. But with water there is sure to me mud so our conversations will surely drift in and out, around and about. (Very typical for the ADD person that I am.)

Mercury in Pisces can be somewhat over sensitive and easily influenced. This can lead to a distortion of facts and misunderstandings. You might want to pay close attention when talking with the boss or in situation where communications need to be very clear.

Pisces energy will be magnified in a little over two weeks. On March first, when Venus moved, we will have no less than three planets in that sign. All of these planets are leading us to our most spiritual, emotional, dreamy aspects the self they represent. Aquarius is in charge at the moment and the lens we are viewing things with until February 20th. I will talk more about Pisces characteristics after that.

Sunday Mercury is conjunct Chiron, the wounded healer. Chiron asks us to work on the area is transits. By being conjunct Mercury in Pisces, Chiron is assisting us with our communication skills. Chiron wants to pay attention to the ways we communicate like writing and speech. This placement helps us see things from the perspective of others too.

Venus in Aquarius says she loves humanity, and people? Not so much! She is square Saturn in Scorpio early in the week. This could cause us to feel overly responsible or over sensitive. These blocks to happiness make us shy or stiff and formal in our day to day life. Try to relax for this too shall pass. I am sure you can find a way to make the most of this and not let it get you down.
Wednesday we should feel pretty clear about things as Mercury moves into positive aspect to Pluto. Intuition could be high as well. Chiron is conjunct again but this time with Mars and we are on a mission and have the confidence to face the difficulties in our life and solve some problems there.

Jupiter is still in Gemini and guiding us to learn new things and/ or write and communicate. Uranus continues its transit through Aries and is breaking us out of old patterns and ways of doing things along the way. Pluto is in Capricorn and lends an air or responsibility to the mix. At the same time this he assisting transformation in areas like government and getting rid of things that no longer serve. Little wonder we are seeing so many changes in leadership, finance, jobs, politics and laws. Pluto will be in Capricorn for several more years so this energy will be on going.

This week is busy, diverse and holds lots of opportunity. Make the most of it and don’t forget to kick up your heels a bit too.
