Please excuse any typos but feel free to private message me with them and do post comments. I spend so much time researching and writing this that I’m toasted looking for typos.

I do hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and is looking forward to a wonderful New Year! The most of December has been explosive to say the least. I have to wonder how all this relates to the planetary alignment of 12/21/2012. I know there is much debate around this subject and that is not really what I want to talk about now anyway. I want to tell you about something else altogether. It’s a planetary configuration known as the Yod or “Finger of God”. This Yod took form in early December 2012 and will remain in our influence until March 30, 2013. The configuration in and of itself is not a rarity but this particular one is. Now first let me explain what a Yod or “Finger of God” is.   Mayan_Calendar2-2009-0925-486x487

Any time you have two planets in a sextile position or 60 degrees of each other and a third planet at 150 degrees or quincunx to each of the sextile planets, you have a “Finger of God”. This configuration forms a “y” in a chart and this particular one includes Pluto and Saturn in sextile and Jupiter in quincunx. This particular combination has only happened once since the 1600’s and that was in May of 1989. In 1989 Saturn and Pluto were switched and a mirror of what we have now in place now. Jupiter in Gemini is the focal point.

This configuration shakes things because none of the planets are really getting along with the others. Each one is in a different element and modality. Jupiter is in the mutable air sign of Gemini, Pluto is in the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn and Saturn is in the fixed water sign of Scorpio. On top of all this the Finger of God is said be a fated configuration. This means it is pointing to a destiny. For example, people who are born with Yod in their chart are thought to have a particular destiny.

When God’s finger shows up in the chart you know there is a difficult decision to make. But of all the combinations there could be up there, this one is the best. The reason for this is because Saturn and Pluto are in each other’s home signs. This is what astrologers call “mutual reception”. When these two planets are working together we could see news the building of news systems and structures and at the same time the destruction or end of the current chain of command and order of things.

Throw Jupiter into this mix and we could feel it in the areas that concern religion and views about life. Astrologically Jupiter relates to our beliefs. Saturn wants us to adhere to our old beliefs and Pluto is asking us to remodel them. All of this opens the door for our spiritual growth but no doubt there will be some kicking and screaming, and gnashing of teeth. To add to this more, Jupiter will be retrograde through much of January. Religious teachings or literature could be a focal point of some revision. Personally I choose to focus more on the transformative possibilities this brings.
To make all this even more interesting Venus in Sagittarius is in opposition to Jupiter. This actually made a kite configuration on the 21st. This adds some balance to the upset caused by the “Finger of God” and reminds us to lean into love, tolerance education, an open mind and honesty to overcome the challenges fate may bring our way. For me, all this goes hand in hand with what 12/21/2012 and its gateway effect of awakening consciousness.

The real focus on this planetary pattern is the center planet and the sign it’s in. imagesThis is the fated part of the “Finger of God” is its apex or center point and in this case, is Jupiter in Gemini. This current position of Jupiter in Gemini is very mental, thanks in part to Gemini’s air element. Jupiter is an expansive planet and wants us to experience, learn and understand more. He is generous, optimistic and represents abundance and joy. Saturn is the planet of authority, rules and regulations. Saturn is in Scorpio asks us to go deep, to look seriously at the conscious and subconscious, see how our lives are controlled by our deepest fears and long held patterns of behavior. Pluto the planet of transformation, revelation and soul searching is in Capricorn transforming the way we think about money, power and material things. This skinny on all this is, the next few months at least will be a time to focus our thoughts on expanding the mind, spiritual transformation and potential, wisdom, positive thinking, and sharing our knowledge by teaching, writing or travel. This energy will be continuing to influence us for a while. If you would like to read more on this subject, I found this article that goes a bit deeper into the many aspects of the “Finger of God”. http://www.aquarius-atlanta.com/articles/?issue=12-2012&i=1518&article=the_finger_of_god_december_21st_2012

This week begins with Mercury changing sign on the 31st. The enthusiastic fiery energy of the past few weeks gives way to the more down to common sense energy as Mercury moves into earthy Capricorn for the next three weeks. Capricorn is always planning for the future and watching out for his money. Discipline and caution are his motto and he can seem dry gloomy at times. Be sure to remember that change is coming soon and this too shall pass as you toast in the New Year with joy!

Venus is in the last days of her trip through Sagittarius which ends on January 8th. This week she takes us from a exciting and somewhat completive the first two days to felling happy and in agreement with our relationships by Thursday. Friday could bring a few hiccups and we might feel a bit of tension or uncertainty in them.

Mars is Aquarius and things are a bit unpredictable. Computers and technology can be somewhat wonky and cause some headaches now. We tend to play well with others and our egos take a chill pill while seeking to solve our problems with unconventional means and with more detachment and intellect than usual.

Over all, from what I am reading from some of the best astrologers, 2013 is going to be full of transition and we can expect more activity in the financial and health arenas. A cheerful trine between Mars and Jupiter on Friday sends us the optimism that things will work out well in the end.

The musical “Hair” was popular when I was in high school. I was in the choir and we learned the entire score and performed it one year. I remember wondering what those lyrics meant. I still do. They sound so idealistic and wonderful to me. Perhaps this is the year that tips us over to living in peace and love?

Aquarius lyric from “Hair”

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
The age of Aquarius
Aquarius!
Aquarius!

Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind’s true liberation
Aquarius!
Aquarius!

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
The age of Aquarius
Aquarius!
Aquarius!

I wish us all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! May it be filled with knowledge, 2013peace, love and great joy! I bless those that suffered great trials in 2012 and send best wishes for a healing year ahead. If you have plans to go out, please be safe and be sure you have a designated driver if you need one. See you on the flip side!
